Beijing To The Black Sea. Follow the Ancient Silk Road across Asia with digital filmmakers Sid and Mary Lee Nolan. Our journey traces the path of adventurous merchants who led their treasure-laden camels from one sundrenched outpost to the next. Historical sites, natural beauty, and welcoming people make this odyssey an incredible experience. Our journey, which begins in Beijing, continues to China's ancient capital of Xian, then on to the Chinese Silk Road outposts of Xian, Dunhuang, Turpan, Urumqi, Hotan, and Kashgar. The route then leads to the mountainous Central Asia country of Kyrgystan, and on to the famous cities of Fergana, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukara, and Khiva in Uzbekistan. Explorations of Konye-Urgench, Ashkabad and the ruins of ancient Merv await in seldom-visited Turkmenistan. After crossing the Caspian Sea, we follow a northern Silk Road route through the intriguing TransCaucasus countries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia where we reach the shores of the Black Sea watery route to Constantinople and the silk markets of Imperial Rome.
